Karen
grew up in Perth Western Australia where she performed
regularly on children’s TV. Karen was chosen
while still in high school to take on the position
of resident vocalist at Perth’s top nightclub,
Romanos.
The next step was to move to Sydney where she
began to work continuously on the N.S.W. club,
convention and television circuits, polishing
her presentation without losing any of her very
natural "girl next door" freshness -
one of her most appealing qualities.
Her sensational voice together with the professional
and charming nature of her performance led Karen
to enter the "You're A Star" television
quest on the 10 Network, and subsequently to win
the Grande Final and a trip to perform a cabaret
season at the MGM GRAND HOTEL in LAS VEGAS.
Her quest performance led Mr. Bill DeAngelis,
Director of Entertainment at the MGM GRAND to
comment, "I have no doubts that the whole
world will hear of you, " Quite an accolade
from a man used to booking the world's top talent.
Incidentally, during Karen's appearance in Las
Vegas, she worked with some of the finest musicians
around including several who work with Diana Ross.
Since
her return to Australia Karen has appeared on
all major TV Variety shows including the Mike
Walsh Show, Don Lane Show, Parkinson in Australia,
Ray Martin Show, Bert Newton, Hey Hey, Midday
Shows as well as many appearances on regional
television programs.
Her live appearances have mainly been confined
to performing in cabaret, conventions, touring
with Neil Sedaka, Bob Hope, and many other visiting
entertainers, receiving high praise from both
the artists and critics alike.
Karen
recently performed on the prestigious Cunard Q.E.2.,
The Royal Viking Sun, "Crystal Symphony"
cruise ships. After winning her first MO AWARD
Karen recorded her first album, titled "Romantically
Inclined", followed by her second album titled
'Turn Your Scars into Stars". By 1996 Karen
had released her third album, "From Here
to Eternity", which received lots of airplay
both in Australia and the United Kingdom. In fact
one song from this album was so well received
Karen was asked to perform at the South Pacific
International Song Contest with her number "Street
Kids" which won her the coveted "BEST
FEMALE PERFORMER" for 1998.
Her
cabaret show consists of some great ballads, along
with impressions of such people as Shirley Bassey,
Barbra Streisand, Helen Reddy, Liza Minnelli and
Judy Garland to name a few. Her versatility also
landed her the role of "FANTINE" in
an Australian Production of "Les Miserables".
Karen
charms her audience with humorous snippets from
life as she weaves her cabaret show with some
of the best songs of the twentieth century.
Do
not miss the opportunity to see and hear this
wonderful Australian entertainer.
